Print Files

How to manage print files.

Print Files keeps the shop from relying on memory. Each file can carry material notes, estimated print time, compatible printers, product links, and queue context.

What to record

A clear print file record helps operators know what can run, where it should run, and what material is expected.

File identity

Name the file clearly and include the part or product it belongs to.

Material and time

Add material type, estimated print time, and notes that affect scheduling.

Compatible printer

Select a preferred printer or printer family so queue work is easier to route.

Product link

Link the file to a product kit when the file belongs to a repeatable product.

Recommended workflow

Use this path whenever a new file is ready to be used on the shop floor.

Add the file record

Enter the file name, material, print time, notes, and product relationship.

Assign a printer or leave it open

Use a preferred printer when the file is printer-specific. Leave it open when multiple printers can run it.

Queue the file

Use the queue shortcut to select quantity, priority, due date, operator note, and target printer.

Update when the file changes

If the file is revised, update the record so future queue work uses the current notes and routing guidance.

Keep names simple

Use names that match the way your shop talks. A clear file name is faster than a perfect filing system nobody follows.
