FAQ

Hex Connect questions, answered.

Straight answers about local 3D printer access, pairing, printer safety, local storage, and daily use.

What is Hex Connect?

Hex Connect is a local Windows or Mac connector that gives the Hexcore Flow web app a safe path to supported 3D printers on your trusted shop network. It can report connection health, return printer status, and receive approved workspace requests.

Does Hex Connect bypass printer safety controls?

No. Hex Connect is built around supported connection methods and local printer settings. Printer controls remain with the printer and its configured connection method, and local control stays disabled by default until enabled for a specific printer.

Which printer controls are supported?

Hex Connect supports status, pause, resume, and cancel requests for configured OctoPrint and Moonraker/Klipper printers when the printer is reachable from the local connector computer and control is enabled for that printer.

Does Hex Connect support Mac?

Yes. Use the Mac download when the trusted shop computer is a Mac with Python 3 available. Use the Windows download when the trusted shop computer is a Windows PC.

What does the pairing code do?

The six-digit code links Hex Connect to the logged-in workspace. After pairing, the connector stores a workspace token for future check-ins.

Can one Hex Connect setup handle multiple printers?

Yes. Assign multiple printers to one connector, or use multiple connectors for different racks, rooms, printer stations, or partner-farm locations.

What happens when Hex Connect is offline?

The dashboard shows Offline and the last seen time. Queued requests wait until Hex Connect checks in again.
